Maybe you can take the tab coloring from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/vivaldifox/?

Thanks so much Patrick. I updated ColorfulTabs to be compatible with Firefox 57. Not quite the same functionality. But I think it's a start. Pls see: https://www.addongenie.com/forums/topic/update-for-use-with-firefox-57
